Would it hurt your vehicle to put in e85 instead of regular unleaded?

IF its not designed for it,yes!
Would it hurt your vehicle to put in e85 instead of regular unleaded?
If your vehicle is not designed to run on both- it will cause a world of hurt for you- it can ruin your rubber fuel lines, just for starters. Also- you would generally get less mileage than you do with gasoline. in a nutshell- if its not made for it- dont do it. Whatever you save on the e85 will manifest itself in other more expensive ways.
Would it hurt your vehicle to put in e85 instead of regular unleaded?
If your vehicle is NOT designed as a flex fuel vehicle ... ABSOLUTELY!

e85 is slightly corrosive, more so than regular gasoline. Thus, a lot of the internal piping are different to deal with the corrosiveness in a e85 compatible engine.

Furthermore, use of e85 in non-flex-fuel vehicles risk damaging the catalytic converter, and if prolonged, damage to the cylinder heads as well.

Finally, e85 will make a regular car feel VERY sluggish, as if losing abou 30% of the power or more.
Reply:If your vehicle is not designed to run on E85 DO NOT put it in the tank. I know gas prices are high in the US but do not let that damage your car. Check the gas tank cap and the manual and see what they recommend.

Is it illegal?

Is it illegal to drive a truck with no glass? I chopped the top on my truck 3" and im having a new glass cut to fit the front but I would like to drive my truck to a car show next week.
Is it illegal?
Just wear Sunglasses or goggles.
Is it illegal?
it is illegal in all states to drive any vehicle that has altered ,or missing safety equipment...ie ,,,a windshield...but in our area of the country the police take into account that its a modified custom truck ..on your way to a car show ....they may stop you, but wont ticket u,if theres no other issues....make sure you have insurance and all of your paper work,and no other safety violations....

Does it hurt a radar detector to be in the sun all day?

My Valentine 1 radar detector sits in the sweltering heat in my car all day at work. Will that affect it? Does direct sunlight affect it? Or do I have to take it down every day?
Does it hurt a radar detector to be in the sun all day?
Sunlight itself is unlikely to affect a radar detector but excessive heat (produced by exposure to direct sun) can make it fail sooner than if it were kept cool.

Solid state electronic devices have a lifespan which is related to the temperature at which they're operated. The hotter they are, the shorter their life.

It makes sense therefore, not to leave your detector exposed to sunlight if it causes the case to get so hot that you can't touch it without feeling pain.

It's also a good idea not to leave your radar detector in plain view like this because it invites theft.
Does it hurt a radar detector to be in the sun all day?
It's not good to leave any electronic device sitting in the sun inside a hot car all day. I would move it, if possible.

One solution is to use a visor holder for your radar detector. (I added a link to one in the sources, below.) A visor holder keeps your radar detector up high, above your head on your visor. In addition to keeping your radar detector out of the sun, a radar detector visor holder also elevates your radar detector, providing even better radar detection. If you use a Beltronics or Escort radar detector, there are additional accessories that allow you to connect a hidden power cord between your visor-mounted radar detector and your power source.

Driving help?

I am going to learn how to drive this summer, but I don't know anything about cars. I know the things on the driving licence study guide book, but NOTHING about cars.

I asked my mom to tell me about it but she does't give good answers.

So, can anyone tell me about the automatic gear shift, the pedals, and accelerating or stoping.

I know it's a stupid question, but all the people that can explain these things to me live in Italy and their cars work differently.
Driving help?
You should go to a car dealership. Just ask them questions about a car that you like on the lot.
Driving help?
You remind me of myself...

I didn't know anything about driving last summer and anyone I asked would not give me good answers. You say your going to be taking drivers ed. then they will explain everything to you, there is't much to worry about. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ;)
Reply:You may well be OK starting from scratch with a good instructor. When I started I didn't have a clue.

One tip which I was given was:

Do not tell anyone when your test is scheduled. Just say you are off for a lesson. Otherwise the build up is too great - you'll be driving round that test bearing in mind that you have to phone/text people to tell them the outcome. Just get out there and relax. So important that you relax.

Of course - the test is some way off yet.

Good Luck!
Reply:i didn't realize the cars in italy worked different.

automatic gear shift. p is for park r is for reverse n for neutral d for drive 2 is a lower gear,( seldom used in auto). 1 is the lowest gear. two pedals left side is the brake and right is the gas. accelerating use gas pedal. stopping use brake pedal.
Reply:Clutch is on the left, break is in the middle, gas is on the right. If you have an auto you shouldnt have to worry about switching gears. Always start with you foot on the clutch , check all mirrors take of the emergency break. gently take you foot of the clutch give a little gas. And their you go your driving the rest just comes with practice and your instinct takes care of the wheel. To break always put your foot on the clutch before using the break otherwise the car will turn off. Hope I helped a little.

Try to answer mine http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
Reply:((this is all referring to an automatic transmission))

The pedals::

Gas is always on the right, break is on the left. How hard you need to push them to accelerate and stop differs from car to car, but their position is always the same.

The gear shift::

In all automatic cars you need to have your foot on the break to come into and out of PARK ("P"). If the gear shift is next to the stearing wheel, you would hold down on the break while pulling the lever towards you and down to either reverse (R), drive (D) or nutral (N). If the gear shift is in the middle console, you would do the same thing but there is usually a button on the side or back of the shifter. As you hold down the break you push the button (if there is one) and move the shifter into the position you want it in.

This is always how you get into or out of PARK. Switching in between the other gears can sometimes be done without holding the break, depending on the car and shifter. (I drive a nissan maxima SE, shifter in the console, and I can shift without the break).

Hope I've helped!!!
Reply:The basics like accelerating and braking shouldn't be different in Italy. Driving is really quite simple, it just takes practice to get good at.

If your car is an automatic, you won't need to change the gears except from Park to Reverse or Drive. Those are rather self-explanatory, one sits still, one makes the car go backwards and the other, forwards.

After you learn how to drive, I recommend seeking out a friend with a stick-shift (manual transmission) and learning how to drive one. They're lots of fun, and it's a useful thing to know how to do. (PS. They get way better gas mileage too.)

To accelerate, you push the gas pedal. Do it slowly and smoothly, until you get the hang of it. To slow down, you push the brake pedal. Again, do this slowly and smoothly until you get the hang of how fast your brakes work. (Test these *before* you get into a situation where you need to stop, so you'll know how quickly you can stop the car.)

Here's a couple of things you may not think you need to know about your car, but they're just as important if not more important to know as how to drive. Ask your mom to go outside and show you how to do these things before you start learning how to drive. She should know how to do them. (If she doesn't, get somebody else to teach you and then show her. Maybe a friend's parents.)

1. Check the oil, and other fluids.

2. Know where to add more of each fluid in case they're needed.

3. Check the tire pressure. (Also make sure you know the proper pressure for the tires on your car, it's in the manual. Read the manual from cover to cover if you haven't already. Lots of info.) Don't forget to check the spare tire every now and then! (It would suck to have a flat then go to put the spare on and realize it was also flat.)

4. Change a tire. The car should have a spare with the proper air pressure, a jack, and a wrench to get the lug nuts off.

5. Learn how to use jumper cables. (In case your battery runs down on accident. Happens more often than you think.)

None of these tasks are complicated at all. My dad taught them all to me in one afternoon and made me change a tire by myself in the driveway before he let me drive by myself when I was a kid. Don't worry about learning how to drive, you can't really learn by reading about it. You'll get the hang of it soon enough after you start practicing.
Reply:Well, lets start with the GO part.

The gearshift (automatic I presume) has a quardrant where all of the gear positions are located. This quadrant COULD be on the dash board, the floor board next to the floor mounted shifter, or in the speedometer circle (where the needle tels you how fast you are going.

The ger positions are as follows, P for Park. This is used to keep the car in a mechanically locked condition so it can't move when parked. The drive wheels WILL NOT TURN in Park.

R for Reverse. Obviously you use this gear position to go backwards.

N Neutral. This is the "non gear" or the gear that tkeeps the engine and drive wheels disconnected from each other. It is SIMILAR to P Park only it DOES NOT lock the wheels to the car. The wheels are free to roll in neutral.

Then we come to D Drive. This is the gear that causes the car to go forward and it automatically shiffts from the starting gear (known as 1st) and then goes to 2nd, then third, and finally 4th gear if it has one.

You don't need to do anything to get it o shift these gears except step on the gas pedal.

Then there is a 2 position on the quadrant. This is a special gear for certain traffic situations whereby the transmission is STARTED off in 1st gear and will not shift beyound 2nd gear. Godd for engine control in certain situations.

Then there is l or Low gear. Very SIMILAR to 1st gear (in fact it IS 1st gear) only the internal transmission works applies a Low gear band instead of just the low gear clutch. This band application gives far greater low gear pulling power if needed.

All quadrant designs presented for sale in the United States follow this distinct format. It is called the PRND2L standard.

Now for the pedals.

The automatic transmission car has a standard pedal setup. The throttle pedal, (also known as the gas pedal) is what makes the car go ans is located to the extreme right hand side of the drivers foot well. The other pedal is the the brake pedal and is used to stop the car. Both pedals are proportional meaning the harder you push the pedal the more function you get from the pedal. (Harder push on the gas pedal and the car goes faster, less push and the car goes slower). Same for the brake, more push, more stopping power.

Then we come to the steering wheel. While just as important as the other contorls, it is maybe moreso because where you turn the steering wheel directly dictates where the car goes.

Now all you have to do is put all the info in the drivers License Handbook together with all of the infor I have given here and 'Voila', you are a driver.

Oh, one last thing. Don't run into anything. it will cause the car to have a boo boo and a lot of 'esplaining will be needed on your part.

Why do millionaire sports cars not have back seats?

This is probably a silly question but why are there no back seats in the Zonda, Bugatti or SSC Ultimate Aero?
Why do millionaire sports cars not have back seats?
Are you kidding me? They want the power from the engines bigger than your table, the noise, the speed. They are not in a poor family of 8 people that crunch up in a minivan. Back seats require the car to be bigger, meaning less aerodynamic, heavier, and a lot slower. You can only drive one buddy, no more.

A sports car doesn't mean it has two seats. A supercar has 2 seats.
Why do millionaire sports cars not have back seats?
The people who drive those cars don't need them for the back seats. If you could buy a Bugatti Veyron don't you think buying another 4 door car for business wouldn't be a big deal? The point is those cars are like toys for millionaires.
Reply:a sport car is traditionally a one or 2 seater only.

a 4 seater is a coupe' and a 4 door is a sedan.

a SUV is some sort of hybred useless piece of ****.
Reply:Yup, and they don't need any

If they want another two seats they will buy a new car

How well are the Hybrid Cars? Are they really worth buying?

they are worth buying as long as you keep an eye on the flux capacitor...they are notorious for not operatiing at the optimal 1.21 jigawats
How well are the Hybrid Cars? Are they really worth buying?
No, they are not worth it. If you get into an accident the fire dept. WILL NOT respond to you until the car is known to be grounded because there have been major electrocutions of fire fighters because of it. They are dangerous period.

As far as their stating that they are "Green" that is BS because the type of battery used CAN NOT be recycled, so these toxic batteries end up directly into the land fill.

Researched this info...What is also interesting is that Europe cars with better emission ratings and better gas mileage get the same as our "Hybrid" cars in the US. Sad, to say the least.
How well are the Hybrid Cars? Are they really worth buying?
Yes. This is REAL.. it DOES WORK! I have done it to my personal cars, and all of my family

members who requested.. (which was most of them!)

I recommend buying this guide since its the cheapest (29.95 instead of 35 or 60 !) and it's

the same as all the other ones. Good luck and happy saving!

This is the website where you can find the cheapest guide to convert your car on water..

Will I get charge for gas that I did NOT receive when pumping?

I went to pump gas today and when I swipe my card, I lift the handle and started pumping BUT NOTHING was happening. So I figure I must be handling it wrong. So I CANCEL the transaction and then swipe again, repeat. Still NOTHING!! So I said FORGET it, I have somewhere to be can't be waiting here . So now I get home, check my bank account and I have TWO PENDING $1.00 from the gas station.... gas that I did NOT get. I left the gas station with barely any gas in my car, yet I still get charged for nothing. Does anybody know if I will get charge still? And if I do, what can I do to get my money back?!
Will I get charge for gas that I did NOT receive when pumping?
these are transaction fees, you need to learn a bit more patience i think .
Will I get charge for gas that I did NOT receive when pumping?
They'll get cancelled at the end of the day.

What you should have done is gone inside and give them the card to swipe to take care of it. You simply got too impatient.
Reply:I do not think you will be charged. The $1.00 is normally a holding fee until the real charge goes through. I would keep an eye on it and check with the bank/credit card to see if the charges do not go away in a couple of days. It could be the station was out of fuel or the card reader was not working correctly.
Reply:usually when you buy gas with a card, most gas station hold a double charge on your card until they get paid,( like if you buy $50 it'll hold a $100) the hold will come off in a day or two. so yea

Thanks for the help.

never,but never ,give more then enough information...deff. not..take another picture..plates reveal,address,all information about you and your car...............
Is having your license plate in a picture bad?
Its mainly for privacy. News stations/TV Producers do not want to be responsible for inadvertently allowing someone to be harmed the misuse of a license plate number so they blur it out to protect the person's tag from being seen and protect the subject's privacy.

What is the next big thing in transportation?

We have been using cars that run on gas that comes from oil since the automobile was invented. In light of the price of gas these days, where are we headed? More mass transportation? Smaller, more fuel efficient cars? Horse and buggy? It seems the evolution of transportation is going backwards. Things are supposed to get better with time. Is there an advancement in transportation we can look forward to?
What is the next big thing in transportation?
believe it or not the particle beam transporter out of the star trek series is a work in progress, the only thing needed is to get the bugs out, and keep the big oil away from the project, the idea does work, we just do not have computers with a lot of memory to handle the task yet (it will handle a 2 inch cube of aluminum, but not wood, or any type of skin or meat )
What is the next big thing in transportation?
i couldent realy tell you but i heard 30 percent of the corn crop is going to be converted to fuel but thats gunna hurt the food market i think motorcycles are making a good come back they dotn take much gas you know
Reply:The Air Car

At the moment we are working on the design of the car and exploring the possibilities concerning our first model, The Air Car Eureka 1.1, with an air compressed motor, either on a mono- or bi- energy system (compressed air combined with electricity).

Google it...quite interesting. Another air car backed by the large auto manufacturer TATA is also in the works. Could be something.

At what point are you going to stop driving due to the increase in gas prices?

I personally am considering public transportation myself. This is WAY to out of hand!!! Next all of the states are going to start complaining that tourism is down....and why? Because of some greedy you know whats out there!!!!
At what point are you going to stop driving due to the increase in gas prices?
Probably never. I need to work and I need things from stores and it gets boring staying at home. Cant walk everywhere.
At what point are you going to stop driving due to the increase in gas prices?
at a point when the rest of the world slow down .... no need for a fast transport .... when life become much simpler... when horses or donkeys are introduced again as a way of transport .... or when I have a golden goes
Reply:yeah i agree with eclipse gotu take care of the famley and i aint got all day for it either but if you realy want to stop driving buy a cow throw a saddle on it and sell it when its old that way you save money on gas you dont have to walk and you'l get 700 bucks from the slaughter house
Reply:We have actually started a mass e-mail campaign sending e-mails to everybody we know and asking them to do the same. The idea is to boycott the largest supplier in your area. Don't buy your gas from this supplier. Just go to another supplier. The problem is that the consumer has to intervene and at least do something but we never do. This is easy and if your biggest supplier is going a week without sales...it will sting. The government who receives political contributions from the oil companies will do NOTHING!. It's time we fight back and do this.
Reply:I already contacted the public transportation dept in town requesting that the buses run every 10 minutes instead of a bus coming around every 60 minutes. If you miss the bus you're screwed. I am carpooling though!
Reply:I only buy gas from one gas company in town. I only drive to and from work, and I plan my trips to the store either before or after work. Before gas was so expensive, I would just drive around aimlessly, or get home from work and go to the store 2 hours later. I'm also trying to work the same hours as my mom, so we can ride to work together [we work less than 5 miles from each other].

I've been looking into electric cars, hybrids, cars with high gas milage, and even motorcycles. I really can't afford the gas, but I can't afford to stop driving either. I live too far from town to use public transportation, and definately too far to walk/ride a bike.

If we all boycott the main gas companies, and only drive when necessary [ex. going to the beach, driving kids to school so they don't have to take the bus, ect.], I think it would hurt the companies and they'd have to bring down gas prices.
Reply:idk
Reply:Well, When the gas gets to $ 7.00 a gallon, there will be no more eating out or going to a movie, taking a vacation or going to events on holidays because groceries will average then about $ 700 compared to $ 400 now at $ 4.09 a gallon. The higher the gas, the more our groceries cost because of truck delivery. I think everyone needs to be prepared for the worst to come, it does not seem that our government is here to protect the citizens from starvation anymore like in the colonial days when Columbus was trading salt for goods to feed colonies, I hate our Constitution, I wish I was a Canadian or European now. Where is our Congress in the time of our need $ 1200 stimulus gets no one anywhere! My husband makes $ 42,000 a year and I make $ 25, 000 a year and we both have college educations and huge student loans. I am beginning to hate America the Land of the Free, which means NOW, the freedom to walk all over us as people. GOD definately needs to bless the USA.
Reply:I have already made the decision to quit my job and take up babysitting. I already have some kids lined up. That way I can save on gas and wear and tear on my car...not to mention the fact that I'll be home with my own two kids...and if need be, I can pick up a night job to make ends meet. I've thought this through and it's the best option for me, and I believe I can make more money with the babysitting thing. The only time I'll have to drive will be to the grocery store or to take the boys to see their dad. It works for me!
Reply:Hi,

Coming from a citizen in Oregon, Gas is a huge trickle down affect. As gas prices go up, there is going to be less tourism. Instead of going to LA Disney Land, People will go to our Favored Crator Lake or Portland. This will be great for the unemployed, and even the employed who will be fighting hour cuts.

Our railroads operate on gas, and all our food is shipped in by gas powered trucks. As gas rises, so does everything, even at Walmart. Oregon is offically above $4 a gallon, even at the cheap stations.

I-5 feels very empty for this time of year. Not very many Californians on the road, or Washingtons. Used to be lots of Big rig gas guzzlers, now it's old cars, small cars, fuel efficent. The Geo Metro is at a prime, even Geos from the early 90's are running in the $2500 ragne.

Currently, where I live, if I choose to ride our local transit every day, I will be taking a big cut in hours due to location. I live in a small town outside the city, bout 28 miles one way. So what's going on here is more people are moving to the city. The sub-zoning that has been going on (dividing one lot into two) seems to have stopped beause people can't afford to live here.

I highly recommend checking out: www.gasbuddy.com

The sight records gas prices for the US, reported by daily consumers like you and me.

Me, myself, and I, I have two goals:

1)We're moving to the city where I'll save at least $200 a month, if not more. We can't afford it here anymore, which is a shame.

2)I'm trying to find programs where I won't need to drive. There's ski resorts in the winter, luxry resorts for the rich in the summer. But I have other ideas, school for a year and then the military.

I don't know about you guys, but I can't afford $30,000+for a new hybrid/electric car.

Enjoy $4/gallon while you can, it looks possible to reach $5 or $6 by summer, and some scientists are predicting $10/gallon within the next couple years.

Oh ya, I love the idea about mass emailing. Unfortunately, the only way that's going to work is with big email lists for your area to inform the public. Maybe someone popular has one, however, the best way to get those lists is through the government or phone company like in American Pie.

Peace.

What are some moving options?

Me and my sister are moving from the west coast to the east coast, and we don't have alot of money. All we plan on taking with us is my car, our clothes, my tv, 2 beds, and maybe a computer.

We've both looked into moving trucks, but with the price of gas being so expensive, I doubt we could afford it. And i only feel comforatable driving my tiny car.

Are there any other ways of transporting all of our things?
What are some moving options?
I'm not sure how big your vehicle is, however, I think you should get in touch with a company called U-Haul. You can attach a trailer to your vehicle and then when you get to the east coast you just drop off the trailer at the closest U-haul Dealer. They're all over the country. I believe that would probably be the cheapest way unless you request on facebook someone who may be moving also and request space in his moving van but be careful, do some sort of background check on the individual.

Hope this helps, good luck

Cheers

i woulnt use any other brand of plug other then what the car came with or recommends. it will cause misfires and all sorts of crazy stuff
Do pulstar spark plugs really work to improve power and gas mileage?
platinum plugs are fine if your engine is designed for them...but if its not...they are all hype and that's all...most engines perform worse with these plugs...they are expensive ,do not improve performance,or fuel economy,and are only going to give u trouble in the long run....run what came in your car new....for top performance

Best hho converter on the market?

wanting info for converting auto, motorcycle or other fosial fuel
Best hho converter on the market?
There are no HHO converters on the market that will actually increase your car's fuel efficiency without the risk of damage.

For an in-depth explanation of why this is, please check the pages I've cited below.

This whole HHO thing is a long-running scam that has recently become widespread again as con-men take advantage of high gas-prices to dupe unuspecting people that don't understand the physics or chemistry involved.

Ask your self this simple question: If it works, why don't Ford, GM, Toyota and all the other major auto-makers use it to?

Let's face it, any auto-maker that brought out an SUV with compact-car fuel-efficiency would virtually own the market.

Remember... if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Edit: I notice that the scammers trying to pitch these devices to an unsuspecting public have already given this answer a thumbs-down. Typical -- they don't want people to know that they're selling snake oil.
Best hho converter on the market?
The best ones are the most expensive because of the materials used - not because of the actual process involved.

Using an HHO generator to run in your engine along with gasoline is a very simple process and can be done in a number of ways. I recommend building one for yourself so that you may tweak it to your vehicle's needs and find the best results on your own through personal experience.

I am part of a new/alternative energy research group and HHO gas and Generator designs is one of our main focuses.

You can obtain free diagrams and plans at our myspace for DIY. We also have Generators for sale, but again - I recommend you build your own.

And as for all the problems these other people are throwing at this:

1.*** It takes more electricity to produce than it gives in return with energy.*** = TRUE.=

That is why these are being used along with gasoline engines! (come on folks! think a little).

The electrolysis here is powered by the alternator from the combustion of gasoline. Because the product is HHO (which is 3 times more combustible than gasoline) - less gasoline is required to achieve the same speeds as before THUS - more MILES PER GALLON.

2. ***It's a scam*** = False=.

You might as well call Flashlights, Airlines, Solar Power and Refridgeration scams also. All science is first denied by the narrow-minded. Flip through a good history book, then learn some Chemistry! The electrolysis of water produces Hydrogen. Hydrogen and Oxygen (when not combined in H2O formula) are highly combustible. This can be used in internal combustion engines.

Yes, it takes additional battery power if you want to do this solo without gasoline - but doens't all science require some work on our part? Stop being so Lazy!

You can get a ton of coupons here without giving any information:

You'll have to pay for the coupons but ultimately, if you buy coupons for everything you'll save a fortune. I do it and it's kept my family eating in this awful economy.

Stop van from skidding?

my father has a ford transit, long wheel base (Lwb)

it has good tires on it, is there any way to stop the back wheels from skidding, some useful tips or something?

thanx in advance
Stop van from skidding?
um, the only thing I can think of if it has good tires on it is to slow down when you turn...
Stop van from skidding?
Use Pirelli Tires, get better suspension, change the original wheels to bigger and wider ones. A Transit isn't that good.
Reply:Are the best tires on the back? That is the main thing, newest tires, tires with most traction go on the back. Other than that, ensure any load is place to balance the weight front to back, and drive carefully.

It is hard to be more specific, because you aren't giving examples of actual skid experiences, like in the rain, on gravel, in snow, etc

Why is the gas continously going up? what is the reason?

What reason are thety saying it's getting so expensive???? 5 dollars for a gallon of gas is pretty extreme
Why is the gas continously going up? what is the reason?
the terrorists are pissed, inflation, and the economy and housing market going down the drain
Why is the gas continously going up? what is the reason?
Supply and Demand. The US is dependent on gas for our way of life so everyone wants and needs it. The oil producing nations are limiting supply. If you do not want to pay the $4-$5 price tag then you will need to make a lifestyle change and walk, bicycle, use public transit, etc.
Reply:supply and demand; if they raised it to 10 bucks a gallon, many people will still HAVE TO buy it.

greed.
Reply:still cheaper than europe. over there its over 8 bucks a gallon. its also the gas companys are making a killing on gas and the way the markets are going its not looking too good right now.
Reply:The oil boys want all the money they can get.
Reply:Food for thought: here in the U.S. the profit margin for oil companies is 4% per gallon, yet the government gets 15% per gallon in taxes (but everyone hates the oil companies --). In Saudi Arabia it only costs $2.00 per BARREL to produce crude oil yet they are selling it for over $140.00. The problem is greed, only it ain't the oil companies this time around.....

What are people doing to keep fuel costs down? Anyone have a vehicle fleet at work they must manage?

drive less, take the bike more around the properties.

What are people doing to keep fuel costs down? Anyone have a vehicle fleet at work they must manage?
i just got an 08 charger, but i don't go that often or far in it. my fiance is driving my truck to work and such. it's about 100 miles round trip. it's diesel and we are running it off a WVO mix. it smells like french fries, yes. but the MPG is almost exactly the same, and the truck is running smoother and quieter.
Reply:I have, along with a co-worker, two turtle top vans with about 260,000 miles that are about to crap out. No one in management seems to care that the AC is shot in both vans. Gas seems to be the least of their worries, as well.
Reply:Drive less, switch to a hybrid or electric. Nothing else we can do. Oil prices will only go up and up and up. Time to move on to alternative fuels or else you'll be one of the few paying over 5$ a gallon next year for gas.
Reply:It must suck not being able to afford gas, but I can so I still drive my '67 camaro with 500hp and get 4mpg, its just money and until we take care of all those sand n.ig.g.a.r.s we are screwed!

how much more (complicated) is it to maintain a VW compared to a honda?

ive heard that there are problems with VW and they arent as saavy on gas.

From an automotive repair side the VW will kill you on regular maintenance as well as general repairs......plus many of the VW parts that are needed for you schedule maintenance can only be bought from VW which equals big bucks...

Is the Hyundai Tiburon a girl car?

I'm a 16 year old guy looking for a new car. I've seen some Tiburons with low mileage that look very nice. I was wondering if it was a "girl" car - similar to how the miata is a girl car. I had a crown victoria in '95 and that thing didn't like low octane gas. It only liked the premium. It would run like a charm, but if I put even mid grade fuel in the thing, it would knock and ping and complain a lot.

Please read the scenario, I want to know who is right.?

Ok so me and my friend, who will will call Bob were riding bikes. Then these 10 kids started to follow us. "Bob" was right behind me riding and when I looked back only 5 seconds later, he wasnt so I turned around and saw that he was walking. One of the kids jacked his bike. lol. But the bike he had only found an hour before that, and it wasn't really his. But he is putting this blame fully on m e. 1) I didnt know they were doing anything, he didnt call out my name or say anything, he just stayed quiet. 2) I had only looked back 5 seconds before that, am I supposed to watch him 24/7 like he is my 5 year old son, I mean we are really 16. But he is saying I should have came back and helped him but he didnt give any sign that he was in trouble. I mean I'm not his father, not supposed to watch him constantly. But even if he got my attention and i came back and helped him, we would have gotten our a$$es kicked by these 10 kids and he would still be blaming me for us getting beat up.
Please read the scenario, I want to know who is right.?
I think you're both wrong for riding around on stolen bikes.

And you've got a bike. You've got a weapon. You can ram people. You can swing the bike around by the frame. You can **** people up with a bicycle.

from your account of the incident

he found the bike ,more than likely he took one of the 10 kids bikes

Car Question? Which car is better?

I am comparing Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5 for both brand new 2008. Even though Cayenne is a little cheaper, it is still similar as X5. This is going to be a car for daily driving and I am wondering about which one would be better. I am not going add anything to the car or suit or hook it up. All it matters that it has excellent maintenance and great looks in exterior and interior.

Which car would drop faster in price in the future?

Also, getting Cayenne S or Cayenne GTS better than normal Cayenne? Is there a big difference?

If you drive or have experience with these cars can you tell me?

Can there be 7 seats in these cars?

Also, which car has more space?

Lastly, overall which car is better?

Thanks
Car Question? Which car is better?
The difference in the lettering with the porsche is one is a turbo model one is not. And if I had to choose, the porsche would be my choice. The bmw rides bad, its a rough ride. Cant comment on the porsche, I have never rode in one.
Car Question? Which car is better?
ok, a porsche has always had a good name from performance and reliability. Plus a cayenne will deffinently turn heads. But a bmw has more luxurys. The x5 is a very good car. and very reliable. and honestly, if you have kids....go with the bmw.

Can you drive a go kart on the streets in Ohio? Do you have to be a certain age?

I want to buy a go kart but i live in ohio. Is it legal to drive one one the street? Also do you have to be a certain age to drive it on the streets if it's legal?
Can you drive a go kart on the streets in Ohio? Do you have to be a certain age?
No...............

A go-kart is not "street legal".........to run any motorized vehicle on the street it must at minimum have turn signals, mirrors, break lights, horn, registration and insurance.

Most states also require emission compliance and head lights and tail lights.

That is the reason so many 4-wheelers are not street legal.
Can you drive a go kart on the streets in Ohio? Do you have to be a certain age?
You cant drive racing karts on the road but if you mean an off road go kart then the answer is yes but only if you have a valid drivers license and the kart MUST BE ROAD LEGAL and have number plates.

Running a red light with a rental car, but not sure if I'm at fault.?

I was in San Francisco and I think I ran a red light light. There was another car with me when we both made a left turn into a intersection and then a camera flash went off. I'm not sure if I ran it or was it the other car. How long do I have to wait until I get notified by the rental car company? Do they charge my credit card or do they forward me the ticket? Not sure how this really works. Any advice would be great.
Running a red light with a rental car, but not sure if I'm at fault.?
if a cop saw you and got your liscence #, you could be at fault. because they could look up the liscense plate find out where the car is from and they could ask where you rented the car who had the car on the date that you ran the red light.
Running a red light with a rental car, but not sure if I'm at fault.?
The yellow light means yeild. You didn't. You were moving through the intersection while the light was red. That's your fault. What will happen will all depend on who got sum last night!

That's because, America, the gas prices shouldn't be this high.

My Opinion, we are free.. We have a president, and others have dictators. We should have low prices. Also, people get paid better in some countries.

No one comment on my little answer. It's my opinion.

It just came to my mind.. I didn't think about it.

I'm only 15, going on 16; November 25. Once I start driving, gas prices may be around $4.50 That's A LOT for a gallon!

And, new cars today, are gas hogs. I was gonna get a Jeep. But, they are like the second worst in consuming gas.

I might get a car, around June, get my license. Then, im getting my motorcycle license. That's going to be the best! The nice wind, on a nice day, and very cheap on gas.

Are you wasting gas? I found these tips that may help:?

1. Racing away from green lights

When the light turns green, you don't have to take off as quickly as possible. That pedal under your right foot is called the "gas pedal" for a good reason. The more you press down on it, the more gas you're pumping into the engine.

Press lightly on the gas pedal, and you'll still accelerate, and you'll still get where you're going. You might be surprised at how little pressure it takes to get your car up to speed in a reasonable time.

2. Racing up to red lights

When you're driving down the street, and you see a light red light or stop sign up ahead, you should lay off the gas sooner rather than later.

There's no point in keeping your foot on the gas until just before you reach the intersection. Let off the pedal sooner and give your engine a rest as you coast to the stop while braking gently. As an added benefit, your brake pads will last longer, too.

By themselves, these first two tips can improve your fuel economy around town by as much as 35 percent, according to tests conducted by automotive information Web site Edmunds.com.

3. Confusing the highway with a speedway

Even if it doesn't involve hard acceleration, speeding wastes gas. The faster you go, the more air your vehicle has to push out of the way. It's like moving your hand through water. The faster you try to move your hand, the harder the water pushes back.

In tests by Consumer Reports, driving at 75 miles per hour instead of 65 miles per hour reduced fuel economy by between 3 and 5 miles per gallon, depending on the vehicle.

4. Bumper-buzzing

Tailgating is a bad move for many reasons. First of all, it's unsafe. You reduce your ability to react if the car in front of you slows or stops. It also means you have to pay ultra-close attention to that car which reduces your ability to scan for other hazards ahead of you and to the sides.

And tailgating wastes gas. Every time the driver ahead taps his brakes, you have to slow down even more than he did. (That's because you can't react immediately so you have to slow even more because you're slowing down later.) Then you accelerate again to get back up to speed and resume your bumper-buzzing routine.

Hang back and you'll be safer - plus you'll be able to drive more smoothly and use less fuel. A good rule of thumb is to allow two seconds of space between your car and the one ahead. You can figure that out by counting off two seconds after the car in front of you passes an obvious landmark like an overpass.

5. Driving standing still

You've probably heard that it takes more gas to restart a car than to let it run. Maybe that used to be true, but it isn't anymore. With modern fuel-injection engines, it takes very little extra gas to restart a car once it's warmed up.

Idling, meanwhile, burns about a half-mile worth of gas every minute, according to the California Energy Commission. That's why hybrid cars shut down their gasoline engines whenever they stop, even for a moment.

Now you don't want to shut your engine down for every little stop in your regular, non-hybrid car - it's not designed for that - but if you're waiting for someone to run in and out of a convenience store, turn off the engine.

And don't go through the drive-through at fast food restaurants. You're already paying enough for the oil in those chicken nuggets.

Bonus tip: Don't idle your engine to let it warm up before driving. It does your engine no good and it wastes gas. Instead, start driving right away, but drive gently until the engine is warm.

6. Short hops

For really short trips, take advantage of the opportunity to get some exercise. Try walking to the store instead of driving. You can save gas and burn a few calories instead.

If you can't hoof it, save up your errands. A lot of short hops that let the engine cool down at home between trips can use twice as much gas as starting the car once and making a big sweep to all your stops, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

Go to your farthest destination first so your engine has a chance to reach its optimal operating temperature. Then make your other stops on the way back. With the engine warmed up, the car will restart easily and run efficiently all the way home.

It sounds to me like your engine Oil is low - I wouldn't drive the car under any circumstance the risk of damage is always really high when you get a red (stop) light as apposed to a yellow (Warning) light.

Ask the shop to tow it just to be safe - you never know really.

Necessity is the mother of invention. Do you think $4 a gallon is enough to motivate the invention and proliferation of a new kind of car, or does it need to go higher?

Personally, I think it needs to be at about $8 a gallon to really affect change. Right now it's annoying, but it isn't really so bad that most Americans can't still drive where they want. My gas bill is still eclipsed by my food bill, car loan, insurance...even my entertainment bill. It really just means I save less. While I realize that this isn't the case for many Americans, I don't think most Americans have really gotten to the point where they are really considering alternative forms of transportation. I say $8 a gallon because that's the point where I'd start taking a bike to work.
Are we finally reaching the end of the gasoline powered car?
$8 a gallon? Are you insane? Most americans could barely afford it 3 years ago when is was $2.50. Do you really think that most americans can afford $4 a gallon? Why do you think the amount of motorcycles, mopeds, hybrid, and electric cars has tripled in the last year? If you really think most people can afford $4 a gallon you really are insane. The inventors don't need "motivated" everyone is trying their hardest to invent new alternative fuel sources because the person or persons that does will be a trillionair. Not to mention their names will be up there with great inventors like Thomas Edison.
Are we finally reaching the end of the gasoline powered car?
My suggestion is trying to get as much resource as you can before making final decision,here is a good one.http://car-insurance.online-helpers.info...

Highway 407ETR.....Does anyone here currently or used to work for the 407ETR?

I was just inquiring about their hiring process. I have been offered a job with them and I just wanted a heads up on what to expect...By the way...Unless you live in Ontario, Canada you will probably not know what I'm talking about...Please and Thank you

How many cars should one family have???

My fiancee and I are expecting a baby in Dec. We both feel we need a larger car. We have 2 good size dogs, a little dog, and a baby. I want an SUV because we live in the sierra mountains and get lots of snow. We also like to cramp.

Here are the cars we have right now

2000 V8 Dodge Pick up short Bed small Cab. Poor MPG No room for a Fam.

2000 Subaru Impreza wagon. Good in snow ok MPG Small.

2002 Subaru Impreza wagon. Things are starting to go. I would like to get rid of it before I have to drop 1,000s in to it.

1972 Plymouth Satellite , Classic car we only take out for fun now and then. BAD MPG.

I think we should sell my 2002 Subaru and his Dodge. Take that money use it as a down payment for a Grand Cherokee with low Milage. He likes the jeeps. He will not part with his dam truck. He drives the 2000 Subaru more anyways. It makes me so mad. I am not asking to get rid of the classic. I think 4 cars is too much.

Am I wrong to want less cars?

What should we do?
How many cars should one family have???
less cars = less payments = less insurance , with a baby the little ones are very expencive , if you have the means , sell the 02 and let the man have his toys
How many cars should one family have???
4 cars is too much unless you have 2 15+ year olds. I wouldn't buy a Jeep if I was you and I probably wouldn't have a Dodge or Subaru either.
Reply:sell them all and

buy a 2007 mazda cx7 (for your baby)**4 cyl

and buy a 2007 civic coupe (for low MPG)
Reply:thats a matter of opinion. If you have need to haul things it is very nice to have a truck, a grand cherokee will probably not get much better milage.

I have the following cars:

2004 dodge ram

1995 dodge neon

2-1981 Z28 camaros

1972 plymouth satallite (it's a consiracy)

1993 chevy S10 blazer

1985 honda shadow motorcycle

1985 Fleetwood motorhome

Doesn't sound like you have that many to me!!
Reply:no you are not wrong,

right now we have three cars;

-1998 nissan Altima-PROUDLY MINE!

-2007 honda civic-wifes

-2008 chevrolet suburban-I know,it a gas guzzler!

What our idea was is that we use the altima and civic for daily drivin(going to work,running errands etc.) and the suburban to tow our boat and to use on long trip and during the winter.

here is what we did for the plates on the suburban,only keep them registered during three months during the summer three months so we dont pay for the chev when it sits in the garage and so if your broker allows that for the truck and classic do it.
Reply:i would say no more then 2 cars.
Reply:Unless your baby will know how to drive as soon as it's born, I'd say the max you would NEED is 2.
Reply:One family car and a small car for every office goer.

Go to you tube and search the following Steve McQueen Bullit Car chase

Right there You will not only get the Ford and Chrysler 60`s cars in action but you will also be viewing the ultimate car chase scene. For the GM ... you can`t look at Chevy ... due to political correctness they were always a day late dollar short (everybody else had a pony car in 64, Chevy... 67..., refused to win on Sunday sell on Monday etc) Buick ( luxury car market had them busy ... why rock the old guy boat... GS`s were nice) Oldsmobile (still being used as a test bed for the rest of GM) Caddy... (Buick syndrome x 10). This leaves Pontiac and a man named John Z DeLorean... the so called father of the GTO...

How much is petrol in the US?

91 Octane in New Zealand is NZ$2.01 per litre which translates to US$5.71 per gallon. 95 octane is US$5.88 per gallon.

How much do you actually pay for petrol in the US? I'm just curious if petrol costs more or less in New Zealand.
How much is petrol in the US?
New Jersey has about the cheapest prices in the country.

I burn premium (91 octane), which is $4.05, rounding up from the 9/10垄 they alwasy include.

Plus-grade (89 octane) is $3.95.

Regular (87 octane) is $3.83.

Diesel is crazy. Something like $4.45.

If you wanna play the "I Remember Game," I remember when regular gas was 17垄 a gallon. It was about 1955.

~~~~~~
Update - Tuesday
The thing is, it used to go up a penny at the time and now they don't care if the increase is a dime!
Today's prices:
Regular - 3.90
Plus - 4.03
Premium - 4.13
SO that's a 6-7垄 increase since yesterday.
I'm going to post a question about the rate of increase around the world, but maybe you can add to your question or answer here...
The gas/petrol selling for $4.12 today cost $2.85 less than a year ago. That's a 45% increase in less than a year. (I didn't keep track prior to that.)
How much is petrol in the US?
"We" changed the way we rate octane about 25-30 years ago and the numbers went way down. I think it's now called "research octane" which averages a few factors. "Pump octane" (if I am correct) was a highre number. It's kind of like comparing "horsepower" to "brake horsepower" or something. Report It
Reply:I've never heard of petrol with less octane than 91. What kind of cars run on that? All the newer cars run on 91 and the older cars run on 95. Well, that's generally how it works, but I do notice some new cars running on 95, unless the driver just doesn't know what they're doing :-) Report It
Reply:Most cars here run on 89 octane. We now use the (R+M)/2 method. RON=Research Oct and MON=Motor Oct. NZ probably uses the RON only, which is substantially higher. http://www.csgnetwork.com/octa... Report It
Reply:I just paid $4.25 a gallon for 87 octane. Most of these prices that people are posting is 87 octane. For 91 octane at the same station we would pay $4.45 a gallon. And its highly unusual to find even 93 octane. If you think about it, we are paying about the same as your higher octane goes further.
I remember when the price in cents reached higher than the octane. i.e. 91 octane was 91 cents a gallon.
Reply:We're paying between $4 and $5 per U.S. gallon. I personally think that price is about right, enough to cut down on all the frivolous, wasteful, and smog-generating driving. It will also usher in an era of efficient vehicles, alternate fuel technologies, and more trains.
Reply:depends on what your state your talking about, different states, different prices.
Reply:The gas near me has just reached $4.01 per gallon this weekend.
Reply:It costs less, here in the U.S. we're paying about $4.38 per gallon. The price increases by about 5 to 10 cents a week.
How much does a land rover [car] cost and how much does a range rover [car] cost?
either one is expensive. Both of these are among the two most outrageously expensive to repair, own, maintain, insure, and fuel.
So if you can afford it just get the most expensive one. It will impress the guys down at the repair shop, and if your broke down on the side of the road and a Honda Pilot passes you, it will be me LMAO. :-)
How much does a land rover [car] cost and how much does a range rover [car] cost?
land rover is range rover.
make:land rover
model:Range Rover
cost too much and have too much problems with it. more time in the shop than on the road.
How much does a land rover [car] cost and how much does a range rover [car] cost?
land rover is the brand and range rover is the model. land rover has the lr2, lr3, range rover and range rover sport. the lr2 is in the high $30K, lr3 is high $40K, range rover sport is high $50K and range rover is high $70K. if i were to get one, it would be the range rover sport. :-)
Reply:LR2s will be about 36k
LR3 is about 55k ish
Range Rover Sport is about - 72k for the supercharged
Range Rover is about 94k for supercharged
Has anyone in the San Diego area have any problems with the company All County Adjusters Repo Services??
We had our car reposessed and after they took it we called in to double check that they had all of our items. They told us they had everything! We go into to pick up our stuff like we said we were going to and then they proceed to tell us that they didn't have some of our stuff anymore. The most valueable stuff was the stuff that was missing. They were the first items we doubled checked on. Well when we are there it takes them about an hour to find half of our stuff and then they proceed to tell us that the guys that took the stuff out of the car said that they absolutely didn't see the certain items. YEAH RIGHT!!
so we are looking to see if this company has had complaints before on missing merchandise! we need to gather some of this information to take to our lawyers to file a law suit. so if anyone has had any info on this company
ALL COUNTY ADJUSTERS they are a repo company!! serious answers only please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Is 15 miles a gallon good for a 2006 mini van with a 3.3 liter 6 cylinder engine?
No definitely not with gas prices these days. unless you just have money to throw around. That is almost on par with an RV's mileage.
What would be the best gas saveing motor i can put in my 64 c10 that still has power to push my truck?
please help i love my truck and dont want to have to sell her just cus i can afford to put gas in her. i just gradguated from wyotech and looking for a job but with little money and a gas hogging truck i cant do much and i would really love to drive her than c her just setting in the garage well thanks alot !!!!!!!!!!
What would be the best gas saveing motor i can put in my 64 c10 that still has power to push my truck?
Another motor will not solve your problem. The cost of getting another motor fitted would take years to recoup, plus the gas saving would be minimal as a smaller motor would have to work harder to push your truck around.
Here in Australia we haven't paid $4 a gallon for years. We're now paying $7 a gallon and in Europe they pay over $10, so consider yourself lucky.
Get a smaller truck is a better option.
What would be the best gas saveing motor i can put in my 64 c10 that still has power to push my truck?
a vortec v-6 will fit anywhere a small block v-8 will , and will give you great economy with plenty of power. earlier ones are carbureted, and are an easy swap.
Reply:Cheapest thing to do would just put a 2BBL carb on it. A whole nother engine may require a new tranny, wire harness, etc. When you get down to it, you won't save very much money. Hell with what labor and the engine/etc would cost you could by an early 90's Honda or some ugly econo car to get around since you don't want to get rid of the truck.
I'm driving daily a 1979 Trans Am with the Pontiac 400, and I am averaging about 8 MPG. I don't live that far from my job so that's a big helper. On weekends she just sits in the driveway.
I was involved in a car accident 2nte?
On my way home from work. I finishd at half 8 so the sun was at a blinding place in the sky. N I was at a bad junction near my house, that has overgrown trees so it has bad visibility. I was goin across the junction n noticed a car was headin straight 4 me at a very fast speed, I must not have lookd properly or the sun had blinded me. Luckily the car swerved n it only managed 2 hit n damage the passenger side skirt at the back n a dent in the sill. But the driver of the other veichal just drove off at the accident, he hardly slowd down. N then just carried on goin at full speed. Why do u think this was? How much do u think my car will cost 2 b repaired? Can he get in contact with me 2 claim off my insurance even tho he didnt even stop at the scence of the accident? Sorry that was so long!
I was involved in a car accident 2nte?
?
I was involved in a car accident 2nte?
Actually, he is in the wrong since he abandoned the scene of the accident. He obviously thinks he was at fault and so drove off before you could get any identification of his car or him to claim on his insurance.
The cost of repairing your car depends on too many things to give an estimate here - you'll have to have it seen by a garage.
No, he can't claim on your insurance - but you can file a police report of him leaving the scene of the accident, and file on yours for non-insured motorist.
Reply:He probably had no insurance.
Your insurance company will take care of your car if you have fully comprehensive insurance.
If you are 3rd party then get a quote from a local bodyshop / decent garage. Depending on the damage your looking at in the least hundreds, maybe thousands.
The car could even be a write off, in which case it goes to the scrap yard and your left with no car.
Reply:He cant claim off your insurance as he drove off and most probably wasnt insured himself you can claim off him if you got his reg plate (if indeed it was his car) but instead of the insurance company paying out he has to do it out of his own money. as from what you described about the damage to your car i had the same thing a dent in the bottom sill and rear quarter and door to get the dents out and re-spray my whole car it was 拢400 extremley cheap as i knew the guy ayway but i would think it would cost just to get the dent out and spray where the dent was around 拢500. hope this helps you.
Reply:Do a spell check, i might be able to understand your question then.
How much does it cost in CA to take your written permit test for DMV? And is there a fee waiver form?
i think it $28 bucks. but if you go on DMV.gov it should tell u everythang.....good luck
Is there a car detailing and performance program that can show me what the car would look like?
I am thinking of the program off the movie The Fast and The Furious where they show what the supra would look like upgraded. I want to have a program similar to shis so i can see what my car would look like and how it would preform. If you know some other program that just shows the design of the car, that would be very helpful too.
Permit/license in connecticut.?
my 16 bday is on a sunday so dmv is closed. am i able to get my permit on the saturday before or do i have to wait till that tuesday.
Permit/license in connecticut.?
You have to wait until AFTER your birthday... something like the dmv is very strict as to when you can obtain your drivers license.... its not like your 18th or 21st birthday where the night before most places will let you buy cigarettes, or get into a bar... the dmv will make you wait until the next day they are open.
Whats the difference between regular gas and premium?
simple answers please, no paragraphs! :) thnk u
Whats the difference between regular gas and premium?
Simple answer: Octane
==== If the simple answer satisfy your question - stop here ===
Long answer: Octane rating is a measure of the gasolines resistance to self-ignition (from high compression). They are mostly recommended for high performance engines (like turbo).
Octane rating does NOT measure quality or energy content.
If you car is recommended for regular, you get absolutely NO benefit from using more expensive stuff.
Good Luck...
Whats the difference between regular gas and premium?
The simple answer is that 'Premium' petrol has a higher octane rateing than 'Regular'.
Regular is normally 95 RON
Premium can be 97 RON or more
The Octane rating is a guide to how well the petrol resists early detonation from the compression of the piston, sometimes called knocking or pinking.
This can make a difference to the performance of a modern electronicly controlled engine, but older injection and carb engines wont get any benefit out of it unless they are tuned for that fuel.
Reply:Its better.
Car warranty and Gap cancellation?
Today we got a check for $1297.57 for a canceled car warranty and Gap. We had the car for 1year and 3months(2/07-5/08) . The total warranty cost was $1750 and the gap was $800 both for 5 years. Prorated - we figured should be 437.50 warranty and 200 Gap = 637.50 - total 1750+800= 2550 should equal 1912.50 compared to the 1297.57 thats a 614.93 difference, I know that they are going to take out fees but that much? They've already told us that this was the Gap and warranty together. We are not cashing the check until this is figured out -.
Our milage that was driven was less than 10,000 miles.
Any help would be appreciated.
Car warranty and Gap cancellation?
I see how you are doing it and it make since but remember that you are dealing with the insurance company and extended warranty people and they may be using a higher percentage rate to prorate this for you.
I would call and ask to speak with a supervisor that is in charge so that you can find out what rate they are using and also %26lt;%26lt;dont%26gt;%26gt; cash the check because you know that once you do you are agreeing to a "full and final settlement".....
What should I look at before I buy a 1964 Ford Thunderbird?
I'm looking into buying a 1964 Thunderbird and could use some advice. it has new brakes and the belt was just replaced and everything and I was just wondering if there is anything I should know about this kind of car before I buy it. Like hows the gas mileage and is it a good car and about how long would you say it lasts?
What should I look at before I buy a 1964 Ford Thunderbird?
look to buy another car unless you have a garage and lot of spare parts out of a wrecker's yard.
p.s this type of vehicles are quiet thirsty for fuel...
I hope you have a lot of money to maintain it....
What should I look at before I buy a 1964 Ford Thunderbird?
If you are wondering about the gas mileage I suggest buying a different car. This isn't a "car", it is a classic automobile. It is not well suited to daily driving unless you know how to care for such a vehicle and truly cherish them.
Reply:the first thing i would look at is the frame and undercarriage for rust. put it on a lift preferably.kind of like buying a house you need a good foundation before you put money in it.
Reply:something else you need to consider is the engine type and whether the valve seats have been upgraded or not,other wise you will need premium fuel and lead replacer
Reply:I've owned a few of these, 64 ,5 and 66. rust is a problem. the first places they go are the tops of the front fenders(no wells) and the bottom of the rears. owned one so bad the gas tank fell out. never heard of one breaking structurally but who knows? look for loose front end parts,leaky gas tank,leaky front oil seal, and power steering drips.these old fords had a funky power assist slave unit on the center link that would spot yer drive even when rebuilt.also the dual exhaust was pricey yrs ago. rear leaf springs were prone to sag out...also expensive. ya gotta remember the people that bought these new didn't generally keep "em more than a coupla yrs and if they did ...had money! Other than THAT Mrs. Lincoln..,how did you enjoy the play? Seriously though they are pretty fast and turn more heads now than ever. Funny, i just dreamt about buying one last week.
