Would like to use the wrx 6 speed trany, is there any way to block off the all wheel drive for a mid engine?

I'm building a mid engine car for auto cross %26amp; would like to use the wrx 6 speed, but I need to know if I will have a problem with the all wheel drive. I want to use just the front wheel drive of the trans but not sure if I can block off the rear wheel drive part. Could use alittle advice please.

yes you can cover the output shaft and it will still work.

Guess you don't know much about cars, then.

The transmission has nothing to do with all wheel drive at all. It's the three differentials that controls the all wheel drive. (That's the simplified explanation, you can find a more complicated version at howstuffworks.com)
Reply:You should look into a porsche trans. They're actually designed for a mid engine application so you can use the complete transaxle, and you can probably get one cheaper than an STi unit (the regular WRX is a 5 speed, the STi is the 6 speed and the trans alone generally goes for $4000-$6000)
